Bristol City Council own or manage three major parks.

Lying just north of the Clifton Suspension Bridge, The Downs are divided by a main road into Clifton Down (to the south) and Durdham Down (to the north), both of which overlook the Avon Gorge.

Blaise Castle estate comprises a recreation ground, large playing fields, woodland, a mansion (which is now a branch of Bristol City Museum and Art Gallery) and a small gorge, totalling 2.6 sq km (650 acres).

Bristol's largest park is Ashton Court, whose 3.4 sq km (850 acres) contain horse riding and mountain biking trails and a deer park, and are protected as a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
