A review of Bristol Womens' Workshop by Jenny Smith - Tuesday 26th of January 2010
I became a student at the Bristol Women's Workshop several years ago and found that it was excellent environment to learn in. The teachers are commited to giving women the opportunity to learn the traditionally male skills of carpentry and joinery. Everything is done by hand and I think that this gives a greater understanding of the materials and techniques than when learning on machinery.
Having completed the foundation course I chose to return for project evenings to build my experience and confidence and also to keep in touch with the people I had met.
I am now planning a career in furniture making and owe a debt the Bristol Women's Workshop for giving me the skills, confidence support to launch me on my path.
So I thought I would write a review.....
